Accenture

Curious about a career in consulting? Sign up for Accenture Federal Service’s “Consulting 101: Policy Edition” conversation this Friday! Presented by Batten alumni, this session will teach you all about what consulting is and how specifically federal consulting empowers the U.S. government to achieve their mission.

The Economics Undergraduate Career Forum brings together professionals who hold undergraduate economics degrees with current students and faculty through networking events and educational programming to expose majors and prospective majors to potential professional experiences. The program combines informal networking opportunities with more structured career panels, talks, and office hours. Our hope is that these programs will provide valuable career-related information for students while facilitating and strengthening relationships between all participants.

Join us for a conversation on education career pathways with Teach For America (TFA) and the Virginia College Advising Corps (VCAC). You will learn the benefits of AmeriCorps service and learn directly from leaders at TFA and VCAC as well as alums what it was like serving in these roles and how it set them up for their future career paths.

Join Steve Hiss to learn about the benefits of long-term investing through a 401(k) and IRA (Individual Retirement Account). This workshop will highlight the compounding effect of long-term investing, define what a 401(k) and IRA are (both Traditional and Roth options), review the similarities and difference between the two vehicles, and explain the tax advantages of saving through retirement accounts. You’ll also learn about “company” matching, as well as when and how you can invest in either a 401(k) or IRA.
